Manthan Award for Social Media and Empowerment 2013

Manthan Award is a first of its kind initiative to recognize the BEST use of Information and communications technology (ICT) and digital tools to create holistic and comprehensive impact on people. Manthan Award is less about technology and digital media but more about the right use of the digital and technological tools.
It was launched on 10th October 2004, by Digital Empowerment Foundation in partnership with World Summit Award, Department of Information Technology, Government of India, and various other stakeholders like similar organisations engaged in promoting digital content inclusiveness in the whole of South Asian & Asia Pacific nation for development.
From consumer advocacy to citizen activism, social media have had dramatic impacts over the years in India. The Manthan Award for Social Media and Empowerment was introduced in the year 2013 to explore the innovations and practices of social media for progressive change in India.
A total of 125 nominations were received across 23 states in India, reflecting the immense faith of the social media innovators and practitioners in this new digital forum. The nominations include blogs, Facebook and Twitter campaigns, YouTube channels, and other online forums.
The Jury selected 27 finalists for the presentation during the award ceremony. AdvocateKhoj has the privilege of being one of the finalists. The winners and the finalists were felicitated at an Awards gala in New Delhi on December 6, 2013.
