No
person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds an
effective driving licence issued to him authorizing him to drive a vehicle of
that particular category.
Types
of Driving licence

Learner's
licence This
is a temporary licence valid up to 6 month only. It is issued to learn driving
of Motor Vehicles.
·
Permanent
licence
One become eligible for permanent licence after the expiry of one month from
the date of issuing of learner's licence.

documents required along with the learner's application form are as follows:

Attested copy of any of the following:

slip issued by any office in the Central/State Govt. or a local body.

The
consent from parents in blood relation can be treated as residence proof, if
parents enclose their residence proof.

medical fitness.

This
fee includes all kinds of fee payable for licences excluding the fee for the
photograph card, which is to be paid at the time of applying for a permanent
driving licence.
Criteria/procedure
adopted to issue a Learner's Licence
After
verification of your documents, you will have to go through a learner's test.
Before the learner's test, colour blindness inspection is carried out.The
learner's test is conducted for a period of 20 minutes and it has 20 multiple
objective type questions. The minimum marks to qualify are 12. The learning
licence is issued to the applicant who has passed this test. A handbook is
provided to go through and learn about the contents of the learner?s test like
road signs, traffic rules & regulations, with the learner's licence
application form.
Expected
time for learner licence issuance
The
learner licence is issued to the applicant who has passed the learner's
examination. It is issued on the same date after 2-3 hours of completion of the
examination or after evaluation of the answer sheet.
If
the applicant does not qualify the learner's test, he/she is given a chance
after one week's time.

Criteria/procedure
of issuing for permanent licence
After
scrutiny of your documents you will be put through the driving test. For the
driving test you have to bring your vehicle with you. You will be tested for
your driving skills, familiarization with the vehicle, traffic rules &
regulations. You can be asked about the vehicle system and safety.
