English Law as to Jurisdiction and the Act of 1973

11.1. Scope of the Chapter.-

We shall now deal very briefly with the English law as to jurisdiction in regard to dissolution of marriage. The subject has an interesting history. The following stages of evolution of the law on the subject are discernible:

(1) The era before Le Mesurier i.e., before 1895.

(2) The doctrine of Le Mesurier.

(3) Statutory development after Le Mesurier.

(4) The Act of 1973-The Domicile and M'atrimonial Proceedings Act, 1973.
