to consolidate and amend the law relating to offences against the national security

Chapter 1

Preliminary

1. Short title, extent and application.-

(1) This Act may be called the National Security Act, 1971.

(2) It extends to the whole of India.

(3) It applies also outside India-

(a) to citizens of India;

(b) to aliens on any ship or aircraft registered in India; and

(c) to aliens in the service of the Government.
