Shooting by firing stone: The convict is tied to wooden staff or chair with his hands and legs and cloth patch is put on his heart and often is blind folded then five persons shoot him. The death is instantaneous but there is some mutilation of body.

The Army, Navy and Air Force Acts of India give discretion to the tribunals to either execute the convict by hanging or by shooting.

This is method used also in Russia besides some European countries. At the Nuremberg trials, the Members of the German High Command who were sentenced to death by hanging wanted that they should be shot to death because they wanted military death to degrading death by hanging.
