"56A. Stealing mail bag or postal article.-If any person-

(a) commits theft in respect of

(i) a mail bag, or

(ii) any postal article in course of transmission by post, or

(iii) any movable property out of a postal article in course of transmission by post, or

(b) stops a mail with intent to rob or search the mail, he shall be punishable with imprisonment for life or for a term which may extend to ten years, or fine, or both".
