11. Oaths in Muslim law.-In pure Muslim law, the practice of administering oaths was well recognised. "Lian" in Muslim law was testimony confirmed by oath1 and accompanied with imprecation. The Quran says2;-

"Violate not your oaths, since ye have made God a witness over you .............."
