IV. Publication of the Bill

Publication of the Bill for public opinion.- After the Bill "to remove all legal obstacles to the marriage of Hindu widows" was published to elicit public opinion, 51 petitions were presented in relation to the Bill; of which, 23, signed by 5191 persons were in favour of the principle of the proposed measure and 28 signed by 51,746 persons were against the measure. One petition in support of the measure was presented by the members of the Calcutta Missionary Conference.
