5. Bail to be granted promptly-

It is a hardship to detain parties under trial in prison an hour longer than the law requires. They are prejudiced in their means of defence; if respectable and innocent, they are exposed to the indignity of imprisonment for which no subsequent order of discharge or acquittal can atone.
