56. Provision for administration by Consular Officer in case of death in certain circumstances of foreign subject.-
Notwithstanding anything in this Act, or in any other law for the time being in
force, the Central Government may, by general or special order, direct that, where a subject of a foreign State dies in 1[India], and it appears that there is no one in 2[India], other than the Administrator-General,entitled to apply to a court of competent jurisdiction for letters of administration of the estate of the deceased, letters of administration shall, on the application to such court by any Consular Officer of such foreign State, be granted to such Consular Officer on such terms and conditions as the Court may, subject to any rules made in this behalf by the Central Government, thinks fit to impose.
