The Kalinga Insitute of Industrial Technology, the youngest institute in the country to be declared a Deemed University by the Ministry of Human Resources Development,launched the fully residential Kalinga National Law School(KNLS)in 2007 at Bhubaneshwar, the capital city of Orissa and the seat of Lord Lingaraj. Currently offering the fiveyear B.A.LL.B.and B.B.A.LL.B.courses for an annual student intake of 70, it is the legendary Prof.N. L. Mitra,(previously with NLSIU and NLU) who is the Chief Advisor. Dr.Faizan Mustafa, who was formerly associated with AMU,is the Dean of the School. Conceived as a thirdgeneration national law school, recognition from the Bar Council of India is awaited.Faculty include eminent names like Prof.Tabrez Alam.KNLS looks to meet the absence of a national law school in Orissa and the surging demand for legal professionals. The school now shares its campus with an affiliated medical college. It is just 8 km from the railway station. A shift to the new campus which is under construction, is expected shortly. The campus and hostels are networked through wireless VPN connectivity.Besides the canteen, students also visit the Swastik Plaza restaurents for a break from the hostel food.
