The establishment of Balasore Law College dates back to the year 1978 and was the first Private Law College in the state of Orissa. The college isPermanently Affiliated to Fakir Mohan University and Permanently Approved by the BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA, from the year of establishment to the year 1999, the college was under the Utkal University.
In fulfillment of long demand for the establishment of a new university in the Northern part of Orissa, the Govt- of Orissa established two Universities in the District of Balasore at Vyasavihar and the other one is North Orissa University,in the district of Mayurbhanj. Accordingly affiliation of Balasore Law College was transferred from Utkal University to Fakirmohan University.
Balasore Law College is also included under sec.2 and 12(b) of the UGC Act of 1956 and is availing various befits under different schemes Needless to say, Balasore Law College is one of the biggest and first ever Law College in Private sector in the State of Orissa. It is a leading institution in the academic arena, which aims to impart the best possible legal education to its students.
Our endeavor is to build a model legal institution that others may possible from to emulate in the years to come, with a vision across the time, to enrich the Nation to height of excellence through legal empowerment. Balasore Law College offers three year LLB Degree course (i.e. Pre, Inter and Final Law) having twenty-eight papers in whole as per the new curricular designed by the Bar council of India and recognized by the UGC.
Besides the three year LLB degree course, the college conducts two years Post-Graduate studies in Law (LLM) under the Self-Financing scheme introduced by the Fakir Mohan University. The admission to this course is being done by the university itself.
