College Information:
Our Yashwantrao Chavan Law College was established in the month of June 1978. In the beginning, the college was known as A.B.M.S.P.'s Law College. However, in the year 1987, in the memory of our country's great visionary leader Late Shri Yashwantrao Chavan, who rose to the height of Deputy Prime Minister, the name of the college was changed, as a mark of respect & honour towards him.
The college has received the Accredition from N.A.A.C., Bangalore which granted Grade "B". Our college is affiliated to Pune University on permanent basis & also recognised by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.The College shifted to its separate specious building which is located in the same campus and which is constructed as per the norms laid down by U.G.C. and as per sanctioned plan of Pune Municipal Corporation.
The three storeyed building was inaugurated on 20th February, 2005 at the august hands of Hon'ble Shri. Sharadraoji Pawar (The Agriculture Minister, Government of India & the President of A.B.M.S.P.) in presence of Mr. Ajitdada Pawar (Minister, Irrigation Maharashtra)The Yashwantrao Chavan Law College endeavours to achieve a synthesis of the original aim & object cherished by our parent institution and the rapid changes taking place in the educational field.
The college has kept before itself the goals of advancement and dissemination of knowledge of law & legal process, in the context of national development. In accordance with these basic expectations, the college is striving to achieve the excellence in the field of legal education and research. The college while imparting the legal education has kept a goal in view that the professional lawyers must be well equipped to perform the various roles which they are expected to play in the society. The college has celebrated its Silver Jubilee recently.
Over the years, it has created niche in the field of Law education in the city. As everybody is aware, Pune city being the seat of learning and education, students from all over Maharashtra, particularly from rural area and India, rush to this great city in search of homely atmosphere, where education is imparted to them. It is the vision of the Parishad and its various institutions to take these students into their fold and groom them for their professional excellence in various fields.
Our college thus provides not only professional excellence in the field of law education but also makes these rural students worthy of entering into the professional field. We make an excellent combination of the state of the art education as well as the deep rooted rural culture. We have produced thousands of lawyers over the years, who have gone back to their villages and talukas for serving the society. This is how our college is fulfilling its commitment of the noble mission.
