Madhav College is one of the oldest institutions of education of Madhya Pradesh. Established in 1888 as a high school it was later affilliated to Alahabad University as a graduate college in 1893.
It was named after his highness Late Maharaja Madhavrao Schindhia of Gwalior.Pt. Bapuji Narayan Dekne, a class mate and a disciple of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak, was apponted as the founder and the first principal of the insititute from 1890 to 1927 this institute was affilliated is Alahabad University and after 1927, it was affilliated to Agra University, Ujjain. Vikram University was founded in 1957.
At that time there was no institution of education was under it, so management and central of Madhav College was given to it from 1958 to 59 different schools of studies were opened in Madhav College it self.
That is why Madhav College has got the honor of being the mother institution of different schools of studies of Vikram University, from the time of its incipition till today this institution is successfully conducting many educational, literary, cultural and games activities of state and city under the able guidance of efficient officers and highly qualified teachers.
Many students of this college have honored the institution at international, national, state and city level by gaining many prestigious awards and honors.
