Govt. Autonomous Shrimant madhavrao Scindia college, Shivpuri the "Lead College" Of the District came into being in 1961 as a result of the take over of Private V.T.P. Degree College as a result of the liberal take-over policy of the Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Revered Dr. Shanker Dayal Sharma, who was later honored as the President of Indian Republic.
The College is named after the name of Late. Sh. Madhorao Scindia.During the past decade, the college has made optimum use of Development assistance and Autonomous grant to fulfill the growing need of class-rooms and other needs of the students and teaching staff.
Now the building is sufficient enough to comfortably provide teaching facilities and scope for other activities to approximately 2300 student under co-education system.
