College Information:
      Kannur University was established by the Act 22 of 1996 of Kerala Legislative Assembly. The University by the name "Malabar University" had come into existence even earlier by the promulgaton of an Ordinance by the Governor of Kerala, on 9th November 1995. The University was inaugurated on 2nd March 1996 by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala.

The objective of the Kannur University Act 1996 is to establish in the state of Kerala a teaching, residential and affiliating University so as to provide for the development of higher education in Kasargod and Kannur revenue Districts and the Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District. Kannur University is unique in the sense that it is a multicampus university with campuses located at various locations under its jurisdiction.

The Act envisages that the University shall establish, maintain, manage and develop campuses at Kannur, Kasargod, mananthavady, payyannur, Thalassery, kanhangad and such other places as are necessary for providing study and research facilities to promote advanced knowledge in Science and Technology and other relevant disciplines.

The pivotal function of a great University is to impart knowledge to the society and thereby to save the society from ignorance. The Kannur University and its law faculty are also trying to subscribe knowledge to the society. The School provides graduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Law.

At the Kannur University, School of Legal Studies, students learn the general principles of law as well as in-depth study about the application of law in the Indian Legal System.

Course Eligibility: In order to get admission to the course, the student shall pass the senior secondary school (+2) course or equivalent with not less than fifty percent of marks.
Provided, the course shall be recognized by the Kannur University. Provided further that applicants who have obtained + 2 Higher Secondary pass Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the Integrated Five Years course.
However, the applicants who have obtained 10 + 2 through open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission.
The maximum age for admission to the course is below twenty years as on 1st June of every academic year.
