College Information:

The Government Law College, Kozhikode is a premier legal education institution in State of Kerala, India. It was established in the year 1970 in the historic city of Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, India, as the third Government Law College in the State of Kerala and the first legal education institution in the northern part of Kerala.

It is administrated by the Government of Kerala, under the control of the Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department.It is recognised by Bar Council of India. Government Law College, Kozhikode conducts both 3 year LLB and 5 year integrated B A (Law), LLB courses and LLM Course, affiliated to University of Calicut.

Admission to both the streams of LLB courses and to LLM course are from the rank list prepared by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala.The College has an average of 730 students on the rolls during the current academic year. It has 17 permanant faculty members selected by Kerala Public Service Commission, through a competitive test and interview.

Course Eligibility:	A candidate who has passed an examination in 10+2 course of schooling recognized by the educational authority of the Central or State Government or possesses such academic qualifications which are considered equivalent to such 10+2 course by the Bar Council of India can also apply for admission to the course. No candidate shall be admitted to the Course unless he/she has passed the qualifying Examination with a minimum of 40% marks. However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes need only a pass in the qualifying examination with 35% marks. Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December. No relaxation of the minimum age will be allowed. There is no upper age limit.

Course Description:

The mode of selection will be in accordance with the directions given by the government from time to time. The selection for admission to the seats in the both course shall be made through an Entrance Examination conducted by the commissioner for Entrence Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram.

Blind and Physically handicapped candidates will be selected on the basis of their marks in the qualifying examination as well as the degree their incapacity decided on the basis of Medical Certificate from the Medical Board.

Candidates against sports quata will be selected on the basis of the recommendation of the Sports Council. The admission shall be made subject to the rules of reservation of seats issued by Government from time to time.
