Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat (DBRANLU) was established by the State Government of Haryana in the year 2012 under the Haryana Act No. 15 of 2012 under the name of National Law University Haryana enacted by the legislature of the State of Haryana. As a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a great social reformer and architect of our present legal system and the Constitution, the State Legislature of Haryana through an amendment in 2014 changed the name of this University to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat.
The University has its own space wherein the campus is coming up with high speed currently is under construction is situated in the education hub of India - Rajiv Gandhi Educational City, Rai, Sonepat - where more than thirteen renowned educational institutions and universities are located and are functional. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat is the only Law University in Haryana. The location provides a positive and congenial environment for legal education and professional training besides overall development of students. The University has firmly resolved to impart advanced legal education, to hone practical legal skills and inter disciplinary understanding, keeping in view the requirements of a just and equitable society.

The Admission is based on the merit through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).However, to qualify for admission:-
The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination of the Board of School Education, Haryana or its equivalent State/Central Board with minimum 45% marks in the aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST candidates)
The candidates appearing in or awaiting results of the qualifying examination held or being held in March/April may also apply and appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) provisionally, subject to the condition that they shall produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed percentage of marks and other requisite documents at the time of their counseling for admission at DBRANLU, Sonepat.
Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks and or fail to produce result on the date of counseling, or
Those who get compartments/re-appear in any subject in the qualifying examination, shall be cancelled and subsequent securing qualifying marks shall not be considered in any case. |

DBRANLU provides B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree Programme which includes This strong social, economic, political, and cultural interface of law and the multidisciplinary learning in B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) prepares our students for in-depth understanding of sustentative and procedural law and governance in national and international contexts. The Programme is designed and upgraded regularly to suit the dynamics of changing society and the globalized world.
It is delivered interactively with a special attention to preparation of students for bar and the bench and development of critical legal thinking and advanced scholarly research skills remain the central pedagogic aspects. This ten semester five-year Degree Course is meant for Higher Secondary leaving talented young students aspiring to make a successful career in the field of law interdisciplinary understanding of law with Social Sciences and Humanities to the students. This Programme is interdisciplinary in nature and follows the Semester System wherein Social Sciences subjects like Economics, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught along with Law subjects in the first two years of study.
From third year onwards, the curriculum comprises of all Law subjects. All subjects are compulsory in the first three years, in the fourth and fifth year; students are offered specializations in six streams, viz., Business Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Family Law, and Labour Law. In addition, the University is focusing on other specific areas like, Rent Laws, Taxation Law, Cyber & IT Law, Law and Agriculture, Environment Law, Human Right, Alternative Dispute Resolution & Legal Aid, Health Laws, Woman and Law, Forensic Law, Banking Law, International Trade Law, Media and Law, Law of Insurance etc. including virtual/class room teaching.

An applicant, who is seeking admission to the Ph.D. in Law, must have:
A Degree of Master of Laws from any recognized University by the UGC, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade point average, for unreserved candidates; and 50% marks or an equivalent grade point average, for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, & Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and any other category of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time in this regard.
M.Phil., Degree in Law with 55% of marks or B+ grade or its equivalent.
In the case of foreign students, an equivalency Certificate is required to be produced by the candidate regarding satisfying the above two criteria, while applying for admission to the Ph.D. in Law.
Candidates whose result of the qualifying exam, is awaited for any reason, may also be allowed to apply for admission to Ph.D. in Law. Such a candidate shall, however, have to produce the certificate of final result of the qualifying examination before/at the time, when he/she appears in the interview. |
