The Patna Law College, established in July 1909, as a Government Law College and affiliated to Calcutta University, was transferred to the Patna University after its creation in the year 1917 under the provision of the Patna University Act 1917 and presently is a constituent unit of the Patna University.
This premier Law College is the mother of all Law Colleges, Law Departments in the States of Bihar and Jharkhand and is one of the oldest Law College of the country.
This institution of higher learning has the proud privilege of producing two Chief Justice of India besides a number of judges of the Apex Court and various High Courts, eminent legal luminaries, academicians and other high dignitaries adorning very coveted chairs in various walks of life.
Indeed, uninterrupted and useful service for ninety two years by this institution is a matter of almost pride and satisfaction for the teachers, students and employees of the Patna Law College and the Patna University in particular and the people of this state in general.
