GNLU Centre for Environment & Sustainable Development is going to organize the National Conference on Environmental Law

Concept Note:
Today, i's trite that human beings and nature share a co-existent relationship that any damage to one would jeopardize the life of other. However, what seems to be a fact now might not have been accepted so by plenty, two or three decades ago. 25 years since the adoption of Agenda 21, a comprehensive action plan devised by global leaders to achieve the goals of sustainable development, the world has witnessed a discerniable change in not only the physical state of environmental conditions but also a shift in the corresponding approach towards addressing these problems.
While various governments and international organizations continue to make endeavors towards engineering policies and frameworks to meet the burgeoning social, economic and environmental needs, we still seem to be at the epicenter of inexplicable climate change threats and large scale endangerment of species. The evident increase in the frequency of catastrophic floods, debilitating heat waves and record-breaking hurricanes in rapid succession in the Caribbean and Atlantic are testament to the reality that is climate change. The aftermath of these events is not only felt on the environment but also on factors closer to human concern such as food security and economic growth. Instances of erratic climate behavior would affect the food and water security of millions of people. Besides climate change and its adversities, we must also acknowledge the deteriorating condition of wildlife in India and across the globe. Living Planet India recently reported that the number of wild animals living on Earth is set to fall by two-thirds by 2020.
Moreover various studies have shown that an increase in temperature have an adverse impact on industrial output as well as aggregate investments. Catastrophic climatic events will cause damage to property and infrastructure and a loss in productivity. An increase in the frequency of these events will therefore have a negative impact on investments.
Of late India has witnessed various initiatives by the State to bring environmental issues to the main stream through different schemes aimed at achieving behavioral and structural changes in the environmental governance of the country. However, it also needs to be assessed whether these scheme have even moved closer to what they aimed at achieving.
In light of this, the GNLU Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development is organizing a two-day National Conference on Environment & Sustainable Development with the objective of discussing, arguing. analyzing and suggesting probable roadmap for solutions to this imminent threat facing humanity in the eye. Therefore, we extend cordial invitation to dignitaries from diverse backgrounds to attend the conference.

Eligibility:
- Original Research papers are invited on the aforementioned themes.
- Participation is invited from students enrolled bona-fide on a regular basis in an under graduate / post graduate law course or its equivalent conducted by any recognized College, University, Institution in India
- Only one submission per Author shall be entertained.
Registration:
- GNLU Students: Rs 500/-
- Students: Rs 1000/-
- Others: Rs 1500/-
Submission Guidelines:
- The paper must be authored in English only.
- The paper should be the original work of the Author(s). Plagiarized entries and paper(s) published elsewhere or selected / submitted for publication elsewhere shall be rejected.
- Each paper must include an Abstract. The word limit for Abstract is 300 words.
- The word limit for full paper is 3500 - 4500 words, not including footnotes.
- The paper should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12 pt and Line Spacing 1.5.
- The footnotes must be typed in Time New Roman, font size 10 pt and Line Spacing I.5
- The margins should be 1' or 2.54 cm on all sides.
- All text should be justified.
- Every citation must follow the Harvard Bluebook, 19th Edition.
Submission Procedure:
- The entries must be sent by e-mail to gcesd@gnlu.ac.in with the subject 'GCESD 2018 research paper'
- The body of the email must specify the name(s) of the Author(s).
- The paper may be attached in '.doc' or '.docx' format.
- The participant are required to send the following details in a separate word document attached to the email:
