National Conference:
The bar and the bench are the pillars of any judicial system. They play a pivotal role in ensuring that the principles laid down in the constitution are upheld. The preamble of our constitution echoes the words "Justice - social, economic and political" indicating that access to justice would be a cardinal principle guiding our legal system.
The other pillar of our judicial system is the judiciary, who through their actions influence the entire society. History bears witness to exceptional members of the bench who were revered for their legal acumen and integrity. On the other hand, recent events in the form of allegations of corruption and the lack of accountability have cast aspersions on the conduct and functioning of the bench.
Date: 11th - 12th September, 2017
Theme of Conference: "Bar, Bench and Constitution of India"
