TLA 1st Pinky Anand National Legal Essay Competition

The Lords Advocate is pleased to announce the 1st Pinky Anand National Legal Essay Competition.

(1). Is Right to Privacy a Fundamental Right under the Indian Constitutional Scheme?
- and -
(2). Is UIDAI violative of Individual's Right to Privacy?

Rules for Submission:

  • The word limit for the essay is 4500 - 5000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • The cover page of the submission should contain the following details only:
    • Title of the Essay
    • Abstract of the Essay (250 words)

  • The file names must only consist of the name of the Author.
  • Co-authorship to a maximum of 2 individual authors is permitted.
  • Format of submission should be as per the rules of the competition.
  • The soft copy of the essay should be submitted in MS Word file (.doc/.docx).
  • All students are expected to acknowledge the primary source(s) of information.
  • Multiple entries by an individual shall not be permitted, and shall lead to disqualification.

General Rules:

  • The competition shall be open to all students pursuing the 3-year or 5-year Law Course from any institution recognised by the Bar Council of India. Students pursuing L.L.M or Ph.D are also eligible for participating in this competition.
  • The participants are responsible for the originality of the work and agree to indemnify The Lords Advocate from and against any claims, suits and damages based on any claim of copyright infringement or plagiarism or unauthorized use.
  • If at any point in time it comes to light that an infringement or plagiarism has taken place the certificates issued will be revoked, the prize called back & the said occurrence will be mentioned on the web and through media.
  • Any previously published material shall not be accepted.
  • Footnotes may not be substituted as endnotes, for it shall lead to disqualification.
  • In case of a tie, the decision shall be reserved by the Lords Advocate Team.

Rules of Formatting:

  • Page Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • Body of Essay
    • Font Type: Times New Roman
    • Font Size: 12 pts.
    • Line spacing: 1.5 Line Spacing
    • Alignment: Justified

  • Footnotes
    • Font Type: Times New Roman
    • Font Size: 10 pts.
    • Line spacing: Single spacing with '0 pts.' before and after.
    • Alignment: Justified
    • Style: Uniform Style of Footnoting
