National Conference on Indian Society and Emerging Social Issues
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab is going to organize a National Conference on Indian Society and Emerging Social Issues.

Theme of the Conference:
The recent decades have been witness to a highly volatile global order which continually challenges harmony, peace and unity of the man's own personal and social construct. Like many other nations, such trends have also had an implication on Indian society, its structure and functions from time to time. Though, economic indices indicate sturdy development of India, however, on the other hand social disorders, dysfunctions and defects remain abundant due to vast populace, diversity, multiplication of interests, local as well as global politics and contradictions in social system. Given the same, significant strides must be made to ascertain that the resources, material and human, be tapped to ensure that India's serves as a demographic dividend rather than a liability to the state.
For the same, it is incumbent to review and deliberate on the current social order; causes of social dysfunction; issues which beckon debates and warrant immediate attention as well as remedy. The conference shall endeavor to invigorate awareness on issues of contemporary relevance in the age of post modernity such as digital divide, economic liberalization, globalization and its facets, impacts of the westernization, education, farmer suicide, social justice etc.
The conference shall also attempt to delve emerging issues concerning society such as sexuality; homosexuality, transgender issues, cyber crime and cyber terrorism; abuse of social media and technology; environmental issues like inter-generational equity, sustainable development, compliance of international obligations; gender issues like gender disparity, women empowerment, women harassment at issues such as divorce, sanctity of marriage, live-in relationships, generation gap and domestic violence; drug abuse; honor killings and the like.
The issues of socio-legal concern such as social action litigation, access to justice and legal aid, right to vote one or right to vote none, access to basic amenities, right to information, right to education, food security, applicability of employment schemes like MGNREGA, labour law issues, etc, shall also be a part of conference. Also, the conference will aim to examine the role of Indian policies like Swach Bharat Abhiyan, E-mudra Scheme, Digital India, Make in India, Jan Dhan Yojana, etc.
The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform to academicians, policy-makers, practitioners, representatives of NGO's and other stakeholders from civil society to share their thoughts on the concerned theme. Further, it will focus on brainstorming how the current bottlenecks emerging constantly within our society can be eradicated and how community life can be made more inclusive, harmonious and constructive.

- Drug Abuse: Facts, repercussions and policy making
- Digital Divide: Rural-urban dichotomy; inter-regional issues, class issues
- Stress and Youth, gender, minorities and the allied issues
- Sexuality; Homosexuality; Sexual minority and allied issues
- Any other relevant issue related to the theme of the conference.
Call for Papers:
The Abstract of the paper should not be more than 300 - 500 words. The Research Paper / Article should be between 3000 - 5000 words with font type - Times New Roman; font size - 12 pt; Line spacing - 0.5 for Abstract and 1.5 for the Paper / Article. The Authors are suggested to take full care of citation of data / information sources. The copy of the Abstract and Research Paper / Article are required to be send through email at firstname.lastname@example.org and also to a copy to email@example.com.
The authors are advised to provide their full names, address for correspondence, e-mail id, and contact numbers at the time of abstract and full paper / article submission. A printed copy of the paper / article should be submitted at the registration desk on 23rd April, 2016.
