International Journal of International Law (Vol. 2, Issue 1): Call for Papers

The International Journal of International Law (IJOIL) is a peer reviewed, open access, online journal in English for the enhancement of research in various discipline of Law. IJOIL (ISSN: 2394-2622) brings together Judges, Advocates, Academician, Scholars and Students of Law (probably PhD students). The journal is an endeavor to promote high quality legal research. It aims to provide a highly readable and valuable addition to the literature which will serve as an indispensable reference tool for years to come.

The coverage of the journal includes all new theoretical and experimental findings in the fields of law. The journal also encourages the submission of critical review articles covering advances in recent research.

Categories:
A submission may fall within any of the following categories:

  • Articles (5,000-15,000 words)
  • Short Articles (5,000 words)
  • Essays (3,000 words)

The above limits are exclusive of footnotes. We are also open to discussing potential submissions that are substantially longer or shorter. Please get in touch with us for further information and to discuss any such proposals you may have. However, please note that we do not accept unsolicited book reviews.

Plagiarism:
We only accept previously unpublished submissions. All submissions will be subject to a plagiarism check.

General Requirements:

  • Articles, book reviews, case notes and short articles should be submitted in MS Word (*.doc or *.docx) or Open Office (*.odt). Please e-mail the soft copy to ijoiljournal@gmail.com
  • The contribution shall contain the main article, short information about the author (author's name an asterisked footnote should be added, giving the author's present position), an abstract of not more than 200 words summarizing the main content / argument of the article and up to 5 relevant key words. A table of content is not required.
  • The submission must accompanied by a certificate that the contribution submitted is a piece of original research work of author and has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  • Please read the instruction below before submitting your contribution.

Presentation Style:
The main work and footnotes should be in Times New Roman (the main work 12 point size, 1.5 spaced. The footnotes 10 point size, single spaced).

  • Language: Contributions should be in the British English.
  • Dates: Date should be use in the following style: 2 January 2000.
  • Headings: Headings shall be numbered along with sequence 1. 1.1, 1.1.2
  • Quotation: Single and double quotation marks should be used for citations, both in the text and in the footnotes.
    • Quotations of more than four lines should be single spaced, indented from the left margin without quotation marks.
    • Short quotation (less than four lines) should be incorporated within double quotation marks.
    • Single quotation marks should be used for a quotation within the quoted text.
    • The omission of words in quotations and modification should be indicated by [brackets).
    • When a quotation includes italics to emphasis by authors, then it should be indicated in the footnote (e.g. emphasis added).

Selection Criteria:
Manuscripts for publication in IJOIL are selected through rigorous peer reviews to ensure originality, timeliness, relevance, and readability. All submissions are assessed by at least one academic referee with expertise in the relevant field.

Citation Requirements Specific references should be avoided in the main text and preferably placed in the footnotes in order to maintain the consistency of the journal style.

Books References should include, in the following order:

  • Author(s)' or editor (s)' full name should appear as it exactly on the source (use et al., only if there are more than three authors)
  • Full title of the book (in italics)
  • Edition or volume
  • Publishers and the year (within bracket) and
  • The page number(s) referred to:

For example, Sandesh Sivakumaran, The Law of Non-International Armed Conflict (Oxford University Press, 2012), p.20.

Edited Book Rosalyn Higgins, 'International Law and Civil Conflict,' in Evan Luard (Ed.),The International Regulation of Civil Wars (Thames and Hudson, 1972), p.170.

Journal Articles the citation from the journal should include in the following order:

  • The author(s) full name should appear as it exactly on the source
  • The title of the article (between single quotation marks)
  • The title of the journal (in italics, in full as it appears in the text, do not abbreviate)
  • The volume and issue/Number
  • The year of publication ( within bracket) and
  • The page number and or paragraph number (if applicable)

For example, Theodor Meron, 'The Humanization of Humanitarian Law,' American Journal of International Law, Vol. 94, No.2 (2005), p. 245.

News Paper Article:

  1. The author(s) full name should appear as it exactly on the source
  2. The title of the article (between single quotation marks)
  3. The name of the newspaper in italics
  4. The date of the article
  5. The page number (if applicable) and
  6. The web address

  • Supra note should be used to refer where there are subsequent reference to the same work, use surname of the author

  • If there more than one work of the same author have previously been cited in the same note, use a short title of the work to indicate which one it is.

Please send in your submissions in MS Word (*.doc or *.docx) or Open Office (*.odt) to ijoiljournal@gmail.com along with the following information:

  • Name
  • Institution
  • Position / Year of Study
  • Author contact information
  • An abstract of not more than 200 words

Deadlines:
Although we accept submissions on a rolling basis, the first deadline for submissions will be 30th June, 2015.
