About the Seminar:
Thinking, knowing, speaking, learning, hearing, expressing ourselves through various platform; be it from a spoken or a print platform this is what defines us as humans. We connect through expressing, we demand through speaking; thus the free world gives us the opportunity to live as the human with the wants, need and the provisions to express. The speech though a basic need but also a most powerful weapon of the educated world.
It was the powerful speech of Mahatma Gandhi which led us to Independence by the minimal loss of live as possible and it was the furious speeches of Adolf Hitler that made the world see the highest bloodshed in the world.
Keeping this in the mind the Constitution of India allows us both to have a freedom of speech and expression and also has reasonably restricted it so as to prevent it from misuse.
The Media is essentially known as the fourth pillar of the democracy, it is the base of the modern times. Media houses have specific influences in the society especially the motion media. The amount influence it has on the masses is very high and the effect may also be bad some time.
During the independence the masses saw the power of speech; where a small man without resorting to violence just drove India out of the capture of the British Empire which ruled the nation despite of the violence agitation for over a century. The role of the print media was also very important to propagate the message nationwide, bring everyone under one banner to give us unanimity and thus raising the united India against the vast Empire.
After independence it was observed by the forefathers of the free nation whose men and women have a free thought and they could speak freely is a nation of prosperity and progress. Thus keeping in mind the fact that speech is loudest weapon in arsenal of the educated world, Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College takes pride in organizing the seminar on 'Media and Law' to bring forth the ground breaking reforms through the medium of seminar.
The major focus of the seminar would be towards the importance of media in world's largest democracy and also bring around changes in the existing system.
