Model WTO Conference

The Economics Department of Hindu College proudly presents its very own Model World Trade Organization (WTO) Conference to be held on the 10th and the 11th of March, 2011 in Hindu College. The event will be a simulation of the World Trade Organization with participants representing various countries of the world.

The World Trade Organization is the only global international organization dealing with rules of trade between nations. The WTO agreements, which have to be signed by a large number of the world's trading nations and ratified by their parliament, are the instruments through which the organization ensures that trade flows freely, and producers, exporters and importers can conduct business easily.

The agenda to be discussed is "Agricultural Subsidies and their Distortion of Free Trade".
A registration fee of Rs. 200 would be charged from all delegates.
Applicants have to give three country choices in order of preference. Interested students should submit their applications by 20th February to be included in the first round of country allotments. For the second round of country allotments, applicants should send their applications by 25th February. The applications have to be mailed to wto.hindu@gmail.com
