3rd RGNUL Multidisciplinary Congress on "Human Rights: Afro-Asian Perspectives"

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab is pleased to organize the third Multidisciplinary Congress (MDC) on the topic of "Human Rights: Afro-Asian Perspectives".

Date: 28th February, 2015
Venue: Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, New Campus, Sidhuwal, Patiala, Punjab

The MDC is being held in collaboration with the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR), Tanzania. The President of the ACHPR and other Honorable Judges of the Court, Justice Sylvian Ore, Justice Fatsah, Justice Ben Kioko would be addressing the participants and students during the conference.

The third MDC will focus on the philosophical foundations of human rights, regional and cultural aspects of human rights as concept and practice and the comparative understanding of the African and Asian experiences of the human rights values.

Call for Papers:
Papers are invited from the academicians, scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students on the emerging issues and related areas to the above theme. It is proposed that the selected papers will be published in a special volume on the seminar in the form of an edited book with ISBN Number. Authors of selected papers would be given an opportunity to present their papers as per requirement of the theme during various sessions on the day of the seminar.

Guidelines for Seminar Paper:
The participants may submit their abstracts (maximum 500 words excluding author profile) clearly mentioning the background of the paper, the purpose, research methodology used and the likely contribution of the paper. It must be accompanied by a brief profile of the author(s) indicating his/her email ID, contact number and official address.

Full Paper must not exceed 3000 words. It must be typed in Times New Roman with Font Size 12 on A4 size paper with 1" margin on all sides with 1.5 line spacing using MS Word application.

Submission Deadlines:

  • Abstract:
    Abstract of the paper shall reach to the convenor of the conference at on or before 15th January, 2015 specifying in subject 'Third MDC : Abstract'. The selection of the abstracts for the oral and for e-conference will be communicated by 20th January, 2015.

  • Full Paper:
    Soft copy of the full paper along with the abstract must reach via e-mail to on or before 20th February, 2015 specifying 'Third MDC: Full Paper' in subject of the mail. A hard copy of the single side printed full paper along with Registration Form and Demand Draft (DD) must reach on or before 20th February, 2015 to the Convener at the address mentioned below.

Accommodation will be provided as per availability on payment basis. The organizers would extend the local hospitality and food for the delegates on the day of the seminar.


Participants have to complete their registration immediately on receipt of intimation regarding acceptance of their abstract. The registration should be done online at

On successful completion of the form, a copy of the approved registration form would be sent back via e-mail to be printed and attached as hard copy with the DD and Full paper for submission.

The Registration fee is to be paid in the form of a DD in favour of 'Registrar, RGNUL, Punjab' payable at Patiala. The last date of the receipt of fee along with the hard copy of the registration from and full paper at the University address is 20th February, 2015.

Participants should send the documents by Speed Post or DTDC Courier only. Participants should prepare the DD and scan a copy of their passport photograph and DD before proceeding for registration as the scanned photograph and DD would be required for submission of the registration form.
