GNLU - Academy on Advance Issues of Public International Law
Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar is organizing Academy on Advance Issues of Public International Policy between 10th and 15th March, 2014.
Aims:
- To provide knowledge on contemporary advance issues and practices of International Law with focus on Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law and Use of Force.
- To discuss and analyse the state practice of developed and emerging nations like USA, Brazil, India, China.
- To acquire understanding on the above so that Foreign Service officers make use of relevant legal texts and apply international in their daily work most efficiently.
Eligibility:
- Be on probationary or active duty as an officer of Foreign Ministry of Developing Country as recognised by the OECD.
- Officer serving in relevant fields.
- Academicians/Researchers/Students in relevant area
- Preferably under the age of 40 years.
Duration:
Monday (10 March) - Saturday (15 March)
6 Days (6 Hours Daily) followed by daily group discussions, four lectures, each of 1.5 hours.
Methodology:
Lectures (including video lecture), workshop, seminar and documentary. Every candidate has to undertake 250 pages of additional self study prior to commencement of course.

Written Exam and Project Report
Fees:
150 USD / 10,000 INR including tuition fee, study material, exams, registration boarding and lodging

Thursday, 13 March: |
State Practice of Kenya, Brazil and South Africa with special focus on humanitarian law, human rights, international criminal law, terrorism, collective security and respect for rule of law. |
Friday, 14 March: |
State Practice of Russian Federation and Commonwealth of Independent States with special focus on humanitarian law, human rights, international criminal law, terrorism, collective security and respect for rule of law. |
Saturday, 15 March: |

Reference Material:
Each candidate will be provided with reading material consisting of research papers, articles, reports and case-law abstracts.
Faculty:
Will consist of well-experienced senior Foreign Service officers/diplomats/Members of International Law Commission, Sri Lanka, University of New South Wales, International Law scholars, Judges and Arbitrators.
