A38's Virtual Moot Court Competition

A38 is pleased to announce the first ever virtual moot court competition for Students of the Bachelors' Degree in Law program across the world. The theme for A38's International Law Virtual Moot Court Competition is "The Use of Force and its many manifestations".

The Competition comprises an International Written Round (Pre-Selections), International Oral Rounds (Preliminary and Semi-Final Rounds) and a World Final Round, all to be held online.

  • Any Law School/University offering a course in Law is eligible to participate with one team in the Competition.
  • The competition is open to students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree only. In all rounds, the university/law school may be represented only by one participating team. It is preferred that the participating University holds credentials as possessing English as the medium of instruction.
  • A38 will assign each participating team a registration number. All correspondence following the assignment of the registration number shall be made quoting the same.
  • The Competition will be conducted online through Google+ Hangouts. Each team will be expected to log in on the portal. By way of a technical requirement, each team must have a designated Gmail Account. Without a Gmail account, participation will not be possible.

Composition and Registration of Teams:

  • Only teams that have registered via the registration portal on A38's website are allowed to participate.
  • Teams can comprise only two speakers and one researcher. Additional researchers are not allowed.
  • Teams may be allowed to rely on the assistance and support of a Team Coach, who may be a member of the faculty of their University/Law School.
  • The names of the students composing a team must be submitted by the registration date indicated on the Time Schedule. Substitution of team members is not allowed after this date, unless a team member has to withdraw due to serious and unexpected circumstances such as serious illness or disqualification from the University/Law School. A team contemplating substitution of a team-member shall communicate the circumstances of the requested withdrawal to A38 as soon as is practically possible. A38, in its sole discretion, will determine whether the substitution of the team member is appropriate under the circumstances. Only in the most exceptional cases may a team communicate the substitution of a team member within 24 hours of the date at which the Oral Rounds take place.
