5th CNLU Parliamentary Debate Competition
The Cultural and Debating Society of CNLU Patna will be conducting the 5th CNLU Parliamentary Debate Competition, 2013 from 8th - 10th Feb, 2013.
Parliamentary Debate is an academic debate event where teams come and argue on a particular motion that is set in the House. Out of the various debating formats this debate will follow The Asian 3-3 Parliamentary style.
The house will comprise of 2 teams - The Government and the Opposition. The Government team will comprise of the Prime Minister, The Deputy Prime Minister and the Govt. Whip. The Opposition team will constitute of The Leader of Opposition, The Deputy Leader of Opposition and the Opposition Whip.
The debate will have five general rounds where every speaker will be allowed to speak for 6+1 minutes. A reply speech is to be given at the end by any member except the whips from either side. After these rounds based on the win loss ratio, Speaker cumulative scores and the margin of victory teams will be selected for the knockout events.
Every team is required to bring with itself an adjudicator.
Rules:
The tournament will follow the standard 3-3 Asian Parliamentary Style. With each team going through a set of preliminary rounds
Then on the basis of
- Win Loss Ratio
- Speaker Scores and
- Margin Of Victory
Teams will proceed to the octas, quarters, semis and the grand final.
Registration Fee
The registration fee for every participant is Rs. 600 /- which would include food and accommodation. The registration fee for the local participants is Rs. 400/-
Deadline:
Registration process closes at midnight of 31st January, 2013.
