Call for Papers:
The concept of children possessing some special rights has undergone a lot of changes in the last few decades. There has been a shift from the concept of children being mere recipients of welfare schemes to the entitlement of children to certain special but basic rights owing to their vulnerable status.

Children due to their vulnerable position, physical and mental immaturity, inexperience in life are prone to exploitation. As per a survey conducted by National Survey Sample Organization (NSSO), 13.3 million children in India are victims of child labour. Similarly, as per a UNICEF survey, India has the largest population of street children in the world. They are deprived of their basic right to family care, protection, shelter, food, health and education. There are a plethora of schemes, legislations and policies which recognizes various rights of children and strives to promote them but still there still remains vast gap between the implementation of such schemes on paper and in reality.
