The Commonwealth Moot Court Competition - 2012

The Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) has been organizing the CLEA Moot Court Competition in which student teams from universities from the Commonwealth compete for the Turnbull Shield. The National Rounds for South Asia is being conducted in India, which in turn is organized at Faculty of Law, Mody Institute of Science & Technology, Sikar, Rajasthan from 30th November - 2nd December, 2012.

The two teams from South Asian region (i.e. one from India and one from other South Asian Commonwealth countries) shall participate in the final rounds of Commonwealth Moot Court Competition in Cape Town (South Africa) to be held in April, 2013. The National Rounds of the Commonwealth Moot Court Competition - 2012 aim at honing the skills of Lawyering and advocacy among the Law Students.

The competition is open only for bona fide students of recognized Institutions/Universities /Organisations who are currently pursuing their Bachelors degree in Law i.e. 3-Year LL.B. or 5- Year integrated program of Law or any other equivalent integrated program.

Team Composition:
Each team shall consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances. There shall be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated in a 3 member team while in case of a 2 member team, both the members shall be considered to be speakers. Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed.

Any additional member of any Participating Team shall not be entitled for hospitality or for any award. Such member or observer shall not be allowed to watch any of the rounds of the competition.

All teams must register themselves for the participation in competition by sending a scanned copy of the 'Registration Form' (annexed herewith) & Demand Draft - completely filled and duly signed by the Head/ Authorized Moot Court Committee of the Participating Institution to the official email id latest by 11:59 pm on 30th October, 2012. The hard copy of the registration form along with the original Demand Draft shall be sent to the address given below before or on 5th November, 2012.

The selected teams shall be required to send the nominal registration fee of INR 2500 (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) through "Demand Draft", drawn in favor of "MITS.FJS", payable at Lakshmangarh/Sikar, to be received latest by 30th October, 2012 along with the Registration Form and the Travel Form. The Registration fee includes the fee for both the Moot Court Competition and the International Seminar.

Accommodation and Food:
Accommodation and food shall be provided by the Organizers from the evening of 29th November, 2012 to 2nd December 2012. The team of Three (3) participants shall be provided accommodation by the University for the duration of the competition only. The interested students are required to inform, the Organizing Committee, through their Registration Form, so as to enable them to make necessary arrangements. The teams reaching before the eve of 29th November, 2012 will have to pay nominal additional charges for accommodation.
