The Inter University Centre for IPRs Studies offers Scholarship to Ph.D Candidates
The Inter University Centre for Intellectual Property Rights Studies (IUCIPRS) is an autonomous Centre at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) established to encourage multidisciplinary teaching and research in IPR. IUCIPRS is offering scholarships to Ph.D candidates interested in research on IPR related issues viz;
- Access to medicine and patent law
- Limitations and exceptions on intellectual property laws
- Protection of geographical indications
- Protection of Genetic Resources
- Protection of Traditional and Indigenous/Tribal knowledge
- Protection of Ayurvedic practices in Kerala
- TRIPS obligations - Federal questions in India
- Farmers' Protection
- Patenting of biotechnology
- Protection of Plant Varieties
- Information technology and law
- Access to information / knowledge and IPR
Details of Application and Research Proposal:
Application must be in the prescribed form with detailed research proposal. The research proposal shall be in any one of the area identified above. The proposal shall contain the following:
- Title of the work;
- Introduction describing the background of the problems, reasons for identifying the areas and its relation to IPR issues, review of literature;
- Justification for the study;
- Research area;
- Research questions;
- Hypothesis;
- Research methodology;
- Tentative chapter break up;
- Work schedule indicating details of the time required to complete the work and
- List of relevant materials including books, articles, laws, reports etc.
Eligibility:
Applicants eligible for Ph.D registration in CUSAT or a student already registered for Ph.D in CUSAT in IPR related areas and not enjoyed or enjoying any fellowship. The post-graduate degree could be in Law, Economic, Political Science, History, Science and Technology etc. Full time researchers alone are eligible for award of scholarship.
Duration: Two years, this may be extendable up to four years.
Procedure for Selection:
The selection for scholarship is based on the procedure followed for selection of students for Ph.D programme in CUSAT.
Registration for Ph.D:
Students selected for scholarship who are not registered for Ph.D in CUSAT shall register for full time Ph.D programme under the Ph.D Regulations of CUSAT.
Last date for Submitting the Application:
The filled in application forms along with Rupees 950/- Demand Draft in favour of Registrar, CUSAT, payable at Ernakulam, has to reach the following address on or before 21st July, 2012.
