TN law students win National Moot Court Event
Students of the School of Excellence in Law, a unit of the Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai, have brought laurels to the state by winning the national moot court competition conducted by the Christ University in Bangalore.
As many as 75 law students from prestigious institutions across the country had competed in the event which dealt with the recent amendments to the Information Technology Act, 2000 in regard to regulation of content on the internet and evolving position of the constitution on the Fundamental Right of Freedom of Speech and Express.
"The team from the School of Excellence in Law, Chennai comprising of M Naveen Kumar, TJ Krishna and R Anu R walked away with the winners' trophy. Naveen Kumar was also adjudged the Best Speaker," a TNDALU press release said. At the event, Naveen Kumar had argued that in the name of freedom of expression moral ethos of a society like India could not be compromised. Well known senior counsels Shanthi Bhushan and Udaya Holla had judged the competition.
TNDALU vice chancellor V Vijayakumar congratulated the winning team on their return to the city.
