The Moot Court Society of St. Joseph's College of Law, Bengaluru, is organising the 6th SJCL Moot Court Competition

About the Competition:
The SJCL Moot Court Competition is a national-level moot court event that assesses participants on legal research, written submissions, and oral advocacy through simulated court proceedings.
The moot proposition raises contemporary legal issues concerning the balance between environmental protection and developmental interests. It requires participants to analyse the interpretation of statutory provisions and judicial precedents relating to sustainable development, regulatory compliance, and competing public interests through structured legal arguments.
Eligibility:
Participation is open to all law students (3 years LL. B Ot 5 years LL.B integrated course) or any equivalent law program from any law college/ department/university recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Team Composition:
- Only one team per institution may register for the competition.
- Teams shall comprise a maximum of three members wherein two members shall perform the role of a speaker and one member shall perform the role of a researcher.
- Teams shall not disclose the identity of their institution; such disclosure shall invite penalties, including disqualification. The Teams will be given team codes after completion of the registration process.
Competition Format:
- Participating teams are required to submit Memoranda (Written Submissions).
- Based on the memorial scores, the top 24 teamsshall qualify for the Oral Rounds.
- The Oral Rounds will be conducted on campus at St. Joseph's College of Law, Bengaluru.
Registration Fees:
The twenty-four teams qualified for the oral rounds shall be required to pay an additional fee based on their accommodation requirements, as detailed below:
- Rs 4,000/- + 18% GST per team for teams not availing accommodation.
- Rs 6,000/- + 18% GST per team for teams availing accommodation.
The additional oral round registration fee shall be payable only after the qualified teams have been formally intimated of their selection.

Awards:
- Winner: Rs. 50,000/-
- 1st Runner up: Rs. 35,000/-
- 2nd Runner up: Rs. 25,000/-
- Best Memorandum: Rs. 15,000/-
- Fr. Praveen Hrudayaraj Best Speaker Award: Rs. 15,000/-
- Best Researcher: Rs. 15,000/-
Note: Every award category will get a Trophy and Certificate along with the award money. Every Participating Team will get a "Certificate of Participation".
