Professional Mediator Training Program

The IIAM Professional Mediator Training Program is an APCAM Certified Training Program. The entire APCAM Certified PMTP is conducted for 55 hours (Offline 7 days or Online 8 days).

Date: Friday, 3rd June - Saturday, 11th June, 2022
Time: 9.30 AM - 5.30 PM

Ever thought about entering the field of Professional Mediation? Would you like to expand your professional practice as a mediator globally?

Mediation has become one of the premier methods of resolving disputes in the commercial and business world, apart from family and relationship disputes. Mediation is not only about conflict and resolution; it is about maintaining relationship and adding value. In effect, dispute is treated as an opportunity to bring about a change in the existing status of the disputing parties, to make it better than they had before the dispute! This is possible with the skills of an excellent mediator.

The importance of private mediation in international business dispute resolution has been recognised by the United Nations and they have brought out a convention, viz., the "United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements resulting from Mediation" (Singapore Convention), which was adopted on 20th December, 2018. The Convention was signed by 46 countries, including India on 7th August, 2019. As of now, more countries have signed the Convention. As per the Convention, mediated settlement agreements are enforceable like an arbitral award in all those countries. The Convention does not apply to court-annexed mediations, making the importance of private mediations in cross-border business disputes highly recommended and the role of a Mediator as an Accredited International Dispute Resolution professional highly important. It opens the door to a new global profession of an International Mediator.

Are you really good with people and a very good listener? There is no specific academic qualification for a mediator. You have to be a person with a good repute and integrity with a sense of fairness and above all a passion for conflict resolution. You may be a professional, like lawyer, retired judicial officer, engineer, company secretary, chartered accountant, etc. You may also be a retired teacher, clinical psychologist, banker or a housewife. You can start a new profession as a Mediator and start your professional practice from the comfort of your office or home.

The IIAM Professional Mediator Training Program is an APCAM Certified Training Program. Experienced and highly knowledgeable trainers introduce you to the art and science of negotiation and mediation and provide participants with the opportunity to practice this structured dispute resolution process through a series of interactive presentations, role play simulations, real life case studies and discussions, making them effective negotiators and skilled mediators. The program will augment the understanding and ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts, as well as provide a solid foundation in the processes, required of a negotiator and mediator.
