Amnesty International Australia Human Rights Conference

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 3 million people, working to defend human rights and dignity. In 2011 they are celebrating the 50th year. On 6th to 8th October, 2011 they will be drawing on that immense experience to hold their biggest ever Human Rights Conference at Royal on the Park in Brisbane, Queensland.

An impressive array of human rights defenders, experts and commentators will lead a series of lectures, discussions and workshops over three days - all focused around the conference theme of "Change the World".

Topics will include:
  • The Changing World: The latest human rights challenges and current emerging issues across the global (for example the wave of protests in the Middle East and freedom of expression online)
  • Change Your World: Empowering people to make change and analysing moments for change (the role and value of social media in organising movements)
  • Changes to Come: Analysing the future of human rights defense (identifying potential future issues)
  • It Changed My World: Stories of human rights defenders (hearing from those who have experienced)

Who should attend?
If you have an interest in human rights, social justice, politics, the rights of Indigenous Peoples - or would just like to find out more about what's happening in our world - we invite you to come along and take part.
