National Law University, Delhi Admission Notice: 2010-2011

Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 10th April, 2010

The NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI established in 2008 by Act 1 of 2008 is premier Law University established in the capital city of India. The Vision of the University is to make legal education an instrument of social, political and economic change. The University is committed to preparing lawyers who will not only be professionally competent, technically sound and socially relevant, to enter the bar and the bench but also be equipped with addressing the imperatives of the new world and uphold the rule of law. The University has state of the art infrastructure and facilities at its campus for learning and research at Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi.

5 Year B.A, LL.B (Hons) Programme
The University invites applications for a five year integrated B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree programme for the academic year 2010-2011 commencing from August, 2010.

Eligibility:
Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or equivalent Examination with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate (those who are appearing in the examination in March/April, 2010 can also apply)
Age Limit:
Below 21 years as on 1st July, 2010 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates)
Total Seats:
80 (eighty) [70 (Seventy) seats on merit through All India Entrance Examination and 10 (ten) seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]. Foreign Nationals to be eligible should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.
Scholarships:
The University provides liberal financial assistance for the needy and deserving students.

Admission will be strictly on merit through All India Entrance Examination to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna on 02.05.2010. If sufficient number of applications are not received for a centre, the University reserves the right to cancel the said centre and shift the applicants of that centre to another nearest centre. Interested candidates may apply for admission on the prescribed format of application available on the University website: http://nludelhi.ac.in along with a Demand Draft of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) for General Candidates,Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) in case of SC,ST and Person with Disability (PD) drawn in favour of "REGISTRAR, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI", payable at Delhi along with copies of requisite Caste/PD Certificate. There is no application fee for Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of SC/ST category (copy of BPL certificate from competent authority to be enclosed with application). Subject areas and marks distribution for Entrance Examination:
English : 35 Marks
General Knowledge : 35 Marks
(Current Affairs, General Science,History, Geography, Economics, Civics) Legal Aptitude : 35 Marks
Reasoning : 35 Marks
Elementary Mathematics
(Numerical Ability): 10 Marks

The candidate shall secure minimum of 40% (30% for SC and ST candidates) of the total marks in the All India Entrance Test to become eligible for the admission. The University has a right to keep the seats vacant if there are no candidates who secured minimum cut off marks. If two or more candidates secure the same percentage of marks in the Entrance Test, their merit will be determined on the basis of % of marks in the Intermediate Examination (10+2)/ Higher Secondary School or its equivalent recognized by the University. If the merit remains the same, then the marks of X standard will be taken into consideration. If still there is no change in rank, then the higher in age shall get preference. At least 30% of the total seats shall be filled by eligible horizontal reservation for women candidates including those selected in reserved and foreign nationalcategories.

Information on Admission of Foreign Nationals for 5 Year B.A, LL.B (Hons) Programme
The number of seats available for foreign nationals is 10 (TEN). Candidates possessing the citizenship of a foreign country will only be considered for admission. They are exempted from taking the Entrance Test.

Eligibility:
The admission will be made strictly on the basis of merit in their 10+2/ equivalent examination. The eligibility requirement is that the candidate should have passed an examination recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi as equivalent to Higher Secondary Examination under Indian System securing a minimum of 65% marks in the aggregate.
The following should accompany the filled in application:
a) Copy of the Passport
b) Copy of the Student Visa endorsement on the Passport
c) Copy of the AIDS clearance certificate
d) Copy of the statement of marks at the Qualifying Examination (i.e. an examination equivalent to Intermediate / PUC / HSC / etc.)
e) Copy of the Birth Certificate.
f) Demand Draft for Rs. 2,000/- drawn in favour of "REGISTRAR, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI" payable at Delhi.
g) One passport size photograph pasted on the application form.
The Tuition Fee is US Dollars 5000 per annum or its equivalent in Indian Rupees for SAARC Countries and US Dollars 10000 per annum for Foreign Nationals belonging to other countries (payable in one installment). Academic support service fee and other fees, hostel and mess charges will be extra. Hostel residence is compulsory.
