2nd Annual Summer School on Consumer and Competition Law
School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala is going to organize the Second Annual Summer School on Consumer and Competition Law
Date: 11th - 15th June, 2019
Venue: School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala
About the Summer School:
Globalization, liberalization and the development of market-systems in India have on one hand improved the quality of life of individuals and on the other hand have brought stiff competition among the different market-players and stakeholders to the forefront.
The unhealthy competition has led to the adoption of anti-competitive practices and thereby causes exploitation of the consumers. The Competition Act, 2002 addresses this issue and seeks to curb anti-competitive practices with a view to promote effective competition in the market and maximization of consumer welfare. Since Competition Law is an emerging subject, this one week summer school on consumer and competition law, in the month of June 2019, will provide an opportunity to the law students to get a comprehensive and in-depth understanding about the subjects of consumer and competition law.
This Summer School is a flagship initiative of the School of Legal Studies and a milestone in the field of Consumer and Competition Law in India. At present, there are not many Institutions in India, who are actually takers of these subjects.
