Concept Note:
This edition of the moot court at the NorthCap University, Gurugram deals with the sensitive issue of water preservation in a developing country. It sets out the case of a state where despite acute scarcity of water resources and effect on river water, rampant sand mining operations are being carried out violating the environmental norms.
The problem in hand deals with severe loss in terms of fresh water resources and ecology leading to ecological dis-balance while struggling to meet the day to day needs. The proposition deals with the conundrum pertaining to sustainable development with right to life where there is a dire need to protect resources for future generations and at the same time promoting development activities. It touches upon the aspect of right to work and livelihood of individuals vis-à-vis the preservation of resources for future generations. The moot court competition aims to tackle a pertinent question of how to balance the environmental concerns as well as the socio-economic needs of individuals.
Eligibility:
- Law Schools / Colleges / Institutes / Universities recognized by the Bar Council of India, are eligible to participate in the Moot Court Competition. The participants should currently be pursuing their Bachelor's degree in law i.e., three year or five year Law Courses. Students who have completed their law courses are not eligible to participate in the competition.
- Only one team can register from a particular Law School / College / Institution / University to participate in the Moot Court Competition.
- Only those members designated as Speakers will be permitted to put forth oral arguments in the Competition.
Registration:
- Teams are supposed to complete provisional registration by 25th February, 2019
- There's no limitation on the number of teams participating in Moot Court Competition, Participating teams will be confirmed about their participation by an e-mail on 26th February, 2019.
- The selected teams are required to submit a soft copy of the Registration Form, Travel Form and Demand Draft of Rs. 3500/- drawn in favour of "The Northcap University" payable at Gurugram / New Delhi on or before 1st March, 2019.
- The Demand Draft via post should reach the organizers latest by 31st March, 2019. The Demand Draft along with the registration form should be addressed to:

Accommodation:
- The students requiring accommodation have to pay Rs. 1,500/- per team per day (including all food and travel i.e. from the Accommodation to the University and vice-versa only on the dates of competition). The said amount shall be sent as Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Northcap University" payable at Gurugram / New Delhi as soft copy on or before 1st March, 2019 and the hard copy by 31st March, 2019.
- Accommodation has been arranged for all teams by the Organizers on payment basis from 5th April, 12:00 PM to 7th April, 10:00 AM. Participants requiring accommodation please indicate the same in the space provided for in the Travel Details and Accommodation form.
