Shaastra 2019 - Law Tech Summit
Shaastra, the annual technical festival of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, is the largest of its kind in India. Shaastra is entirely student run and has the distinction of being the first such event in the country to be ISO 900I: 2008 certified. It consists of a diverse range of competitions, events, workshops, talks, lectures, demonstrations, professional shows and the Summit.
Shaastra Summit proudly presents this year's theme to you: "LawTech". In this rapidly transforming world, no field is left untapped with the advent of new technology. One such area of interest is the association between law and technology. Law-Tech is a rapidly growing sector with a huge potential in India. Being India's largest technical festival, Shaastra has taken up the responsibility to encourage and enable people, in both law and technology spheres, to grow their knowledge and become experts in law-tech.

From the use of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Law-bots for assisting lawyers and a better client experience to helping scientists and researchers with laws on intellectual property and patents, the extent of Law-Tech covers vast areas of application
Shaastra Law Tech Summit 2019 will be a four day event consisting of a two day Law-Tech conference and an Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition. This year along with the moot, the Law-Tech conference will have a plethora of lectures, talks, workshops and panel-discussions.
Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition
IIT Madras in association with Surana & Surana is going to organize the Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition.
Date: 4th - 6th January, 2019
Venue: Indian Institute of Technology, Adyar, Madras Campus, Chennai
Eligibility:
- The competition is open only for students who are enrolled in an LL.B. three year or five year course during the current academic year.
- Teams will be selected on the basis of their memorials for participation.
