"Lex Bonahza" - International Law Fest

Indore Institute of Law is going to organize "Lex Bonahza" - the International Law Fest

About Lex Bonahza:
The International Law Fest "Lex Bonahza" is a yearly event of Indore Institute of Law. The Event showcases the legal battle between the aspiring lawyers. The swords are crossed between crime and law; fanfares of competitions are organized for sharpening the wits required on the legal arrays.

In its short span, Indore Institute of Law family has organized law fest for supporting its vision of promoting legal arena beyond the borders. The 1st Chapter of the National Law Fest was organized in the year 2012 which witnessed 8 teams and was graced by Eminent Legal Luminaries.

Moot Court Competition

Date: 1st & 2nd September, 2018
Venue: Indore Institute of Law

Students enrolled in a full-time or part-time law programme at the time of the competition are eligible to compete in the competition. Each College / Law School / University may enter one team only.

Team Composition:

  • A team consisting of three members that satisfies the eligibility criteria can participate.
  • Each team shall comprise of two Speakers and one Researcher.
  • Only the Speakers are allowed to present and argue. The researcher will not be given a chance to speak unless specifically allowed by the Judges. However, he/she can pass on the hand written notes to the Speakers with the permission of the Judges.
  • No team member may be replaced after the team's memorial has been received by the Competition Committee, except with the express written consent of the Competition Committee, which will require a showing of good cause.

Parliamentary Debate
The Parliamentary Debate Competition organized by Indore Institute of Law follows the 3-on-3 Asian Parliamentary Debating Rules. Each debating competition will consist of two teams; one to propose the motion and one to oppose it. The team proposing may be known as "The Proposition:, "The Affirmative" or "The Government". The team opposing may be known as "The Opposition" or "The Negative". Teams will be designated as the Proposition or the Opposition for each round of the competition. Each debate shall be adjudicated upon by a panel comprising of an odd number of adjudicators who will be participants indeed.

Date: 1st & 2nd September, 2018
Venue: Indore Institute of Law.

Team Composition:

  • The debate will consist of two teams of three participants each (participants will be known as "members")
  • An adjudicator or panel of adjudicators shall be the participants of the competition.
  • The team will comprise of 3+1 (Members + Adjudicator).

International Paper Presentation Competition

Date: 31st August - 2nd September, 2018
Venue: Indore Institute of Law


  • Resolving cross-border insolvency
  • Enrica-Lexie: the Jurisdictional Questions - Do India have Jurisdiction?
  • Space Law and International Issues
  • Sports Law - Issue of Ball Tempering - The impact of Technological Assistance
  • Rising Conflict between Executive and Judiciary
  • Current challenges faced by Supreme Court - Dissenting Judges

The above areas of law and themes are indicative in nature. The participants are free to choose any inter-disciplinary topic involving one or more of the above areas of law

Guidelines for Paper Presentations:

  • The Lex Bonanza shall have paper presentations (including Articles, Research Paper) that shall be selected after a peer review procedure, to be conducted by the Editorial Board of the Indore Institute of Law.
  • The presenters will present their papers before a panel of experts who shall adjudge the candidates on basis of their oratory skills and use of content in paper presentation.
  • The participants may adopt all modern means for presenting the papers including audio-visual aids, PowerPoint presentations etc.
  • All presenters will be issued Certificate of Participation by the Indore Institute of Law, Indore.
  • Researchers who wish to get their paper published apart from three selected papers may publish the same after paying separate amount of Rs 1500, provided the paper is approved by the Editorial Board, satisfying all quality benchmarks. Hardcopy of the published papers will be provided to such candidates within 2 months from the date of "Lex Bonanza 2k18".


  • Any eligible Researcher and student of law (UG / PG / Ph.D. / Academicians) can register to participate in the Paper Presentation; but the Ph.D. candidates and Academicians cannot participate in any other competition except the Paper Presentation.
  • All participants will be issued a Certificate of Participation by the Indore Institute of Law
  • For Registration, interested candidates may contact the Registration Coordinators of the International Law Fest - "Lex Bonanza 2K18".

Submission Guidelines:

  • Authors are requested to send an electronic version of their manuscripts in .doc or .docx format at, with the subject as "Submission - (Name of Author) - Submission for Conference"
  • The acceptable length of Article / Paper is between 5000 - 8000 words, excluding footnotes. All submissions must include an abstract of not more than 300 words, explaining the main idea, objective and scope of the Article / Paper.
  • The Article should be in Times New Roman, font size 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing and 1 inch margins on each side. Footnotes should be in font size 10 pt and with single line spacing.
  • The Authors should conform to the Harvard Bluebook (20th Edition) system of citation. The relevant sources referred should be duly acknowledged as footnotes.
  • Authors should provide their contact details, designation and institutional affiliation in the covering letter along with the submission. The Authors must refrain from mentioning their personal details in the paper submission for impartial and transparent evaluation of the Research Papers / Articles. Co-authorship up to 2 students is permissible except Ph.D. candidates and Academicians.
  • The submission must be original work of the Authors. Any form of plagiarism will lead to direct rejection; only 15% similarity will be entertained.
  • Authors shortlisted for the submissions will be intimated regarding the review process.
  • The decision of the Editorial Board in this regard shall be final.


  • The last date for submitting the Abstract is 5th August, 2018. Acceptance of Abstract will be intimated by 7th August, 2018.
  • The last date for submitting the full paper is 20th August, 2018. Acceptance will be intimated by 22nd August, 2018.

Judgment Writing Competition

The participants must be a 3 years LL.B. or 5 years B.A.LL.B / B.B.A.LL.B pursuing student. There shall be only two participants from one college.

The structure of the judgment will reflect the forum / court in which the provided case is set and argued. The structure also follows the Criminal / Civil Laws as the competition is based upon the judgment writing.

Submission Guidelines:

  • There shall be an on-spot judgment writing competition.
  • The related Problem shall be provided 90 minutes before the competition to the participants.
  • The participants shall compile their judgment within the word limit of 2500 words.

Law Quiz


  • Each Team shall comprise of two participants.
  • There shall be only one team from one college.
  • The preliminary round shall be in the written form.
  • The questions shall be in the form of multiple choice, true / false statements, specific answer based etc.
  • Team scoring the highest marks in the written quiz shall qualify for the final round.
  • Quiz will cover topics related to:
    • Constitutional Law
    • Current Affairs related to Constitutional Law.

  • The quiz shall be conducted within a span of 2 hours.


Topic: "Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan - Failure or Success"


  • Two speakers from each team, one FOR the motion and one AGAINST the motion shall participate.
  • Each speaker will be given 4 minutes to speak. (3+1)
  • At the completion of three minutes, there will be warning bell.
  • Marks will be deducted if the speaker exceeds the time limit.
  • The medium of Debate shall be strictly English.
  • No abusive language shall be used.
  • No objection shall be entertained as the Decision of the Judges shall be final.
  • Participants are not allowed to bring any kind of hand written stuff (paper or chit) or mobile to the stage or near podium.

Street play:

Proposed Theme: Consequences of irresponsible reporting on Social Media


  • Team should comprise of minimum 6 and maximum 15 students (Girls and Boys included).
  • Minimum time of Street Play should be 10 minutes & Maximum 12 minutes
  • Teams using any Props / Costume / Dressing must bring all their requirements and must be ready, well in time as per instructions of the organizer. No Props or Costume or any material will be provided by the host college.
  • The Competition will be conducted on a "ground" like open place and hence no microphones, speakers, music systems will be allowed or available. Teams can sing / dance by themselves to create the necessary music or sound.
  • In case of abusive language and indecent behavior, the team will be disqualified.
  • Languages used can be both English as well as Hindi.

Registration Process:
Registration can be done by filling the student registration form by all participating students individually. The student registration form must be accompanied with a Team Form filled by the Team Leader.

The registration forms can also be downloaded from the website. Duly-filled registration forms along with scanned copy of payment details (Paytm or online) should be sent latest by 10th August, 2018.

Registration Fees:

  • Rs. 4000/- per participant for Lex Bonanza 2018 (Inclusive of accommodation and food)
  • Rs. 3000/- per participant for Lex Bonanza 2018 (Inclusive of food only)
  • Rs. 8000/- or $100 for NRI Teams (Inclusive of accommodation and food)

Institute will provide pick up for the teams from Indore Railway station on 31st August, 2018 at 9 am. Institute will provide drop facility on 3rd September, 2018 from the venue, Indore Institute of Law at 9 am. Registration fee shall be accepted via PAYTM (9977041777) or Online Transaction in favor of the College
