The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar university, Lucknow is one of the youngest central universities in the country. The jurisdiction of this residential University is over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. The campus Vidya Vihar is located off Rae Bareli Road, about 10 kms south of the Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow.Department of Human Rights conducts postgraduate teaching and research programmes in the areas relating to human rights and aims at recommending appropriate measures for enforcing human rights and securing ends of justice through legal and democratic processes.Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University was established in Lucknow in 1996 as Central University (By an Act of Parliament 1994) with the objects of promoting advance knowledge by instructional and research facilities in science, key and frontier areas of technology and other allied disciplines. This University is the PostGraduate and research University&main objective of this University is to promote professional studies,Interdisciplinary studies, research and development activities.With above objectives, the University has started its academic programmes which have employment potential and relevant for the development of Indian Society. At present, we have five functional Schools comprising of ten functional departments such as (i) School for Ambedkar Studies comprising of Department of Economics & Department of History, (ii) School for BioScience & Biotechnology comprising of Department of Biotechnology, Department of Applied Plant Science & Department of Applied Animal Science, (iii) School for Environmental Science comprising of Department of Environmental Science, (iv) School for Information Science & Technology comprising of Department of Library & Information Science, Department of Computer Science and Department of Information Technology (v) School for Legal Studies comprising of Department of Human Rights. These departments offer PostGraduate Courses. Each department is also offering Ph.D. Programme. The students are admitted through All India Entrance Test conducted at different centres purely on the basis of merit subject to the reservation policy of the University. In addition to above departments, we have proposed to develop some more new PostGraduate departments during XI plan which not only have employment potential but also relevant for the socioeconomic development of the country.
